WHY THIS PARADOR

Why stay here?

A traditional Galician house overlooking the Ribadeo estuary, perfectly positioned where Galicia meets Asturias on the north coast.

Why it stands out

The estuary view and border geography make Ribadeo more important as a route stop than its modest building type might suggest.

How long to stay

One night works on a coastal drive; two nights are better if Praia das Catedrais and nearby towns are included.

Best route role

Use Ribadeo between Galicia’s north coast and eastern Asturias.

THE BUILDING & HISTORY

A regional house overlooking the estuary

The Parador occupies a traditional Galician-style house rather than a monumental palace or monastery.

Its defining architectural feature is the relationship with the estuary: dining and guest spaces look toward the water and the Asturian bank beyond.

SETTING & LOCATION

At the Galicia–Asturias border

Ribadeo is a natural hinge between the two regions. The estuary, nearby coastal towns and Praia das Catedrais make the property especially useful for travelers following Spain’s northern coast.

ABOUT THE PARADOR

More about the stay

The Hotel occupies a traditional Galician country house on the Ribadeo estuary, a centre for sailing and holidaymaking, next to the coast of Asturias. Its magnificent location, on the border between Galicia and Asturias, offers the possibility of enjoying unique views of the landscape of Galicia, the Ribadeo estuary and the little villages of the Asturias bank of the river, an extraordinary panorama which can be seen from the dining room.

A graceful, elegant seaside style predominates in the hotel interior. The rooms are welcoming and comfortable, some with splendid views. The restaurant offers traditional Galician cooking with dishes such as empanada (pie), lacon (boiled ham), seafood and local soups.
