WHY THIS PARADOR

Why stay here?

A historic-town Parador in Arcos de la Frontera, perched above the Guadalete plain and ideally placed for the white villages of Cádiz province.

Why it stands out

Arcos combines a compact historic-town hotel with one of Andalusia’s classic white-village landscapes.

How long to stay

One night works as a route stop; two nights are better if you want a full white-villages day or Jerez excursion.

Best route role

Use Arcos between Cádiz/Jerez and Ronda, or as the western counterpart to an interior Andalusia journey.

THE BUILDING & HISTORY

The former Casa del Corregidor

The Parador occupies the former Casa del Corregidor, with traditional Andalusian courtyards, tilework, grilles and timber details rather than the monumental scale of a castle or monastery.

Its strongest architectural quality is how naturally it fits into Arcos’s historic fabric and cliff-edge townscape.

SETTING & LOCATION

At the gateway to the white villages

Arcos sits above the Guadalete valley and makes an excellent starting point for Grazalema, Jerez and the broader Pueblos Blancos route. The views over the plain are a defining part of the stay.

ABOUT THE PARADOR

More about the stay

The Parador, situated on the banks of the Guadalete river, was formerly the Casa del Corregidor. It boasts an impressive view over the fertile plains surrounding the river, as well as the Arcos de la Frontera old town. It is an ideal starting point to embark on the wine and Pueblos Blancos (white villages) routes. Jerez de la Frontera and the fighting bull livestock farms are particularly interesting.

The hotel bedrooms with terraces provide some magnificent views of Arcos. The interior contains traditional Andalusian courtyards along with other decorative features, such as grilles and azulejería (blue and white ceramics).

Wooden beams, rugs and archways finish the Parador's decoration. The restaurant offers a welcoming ambience and traditional dishes from the Sierra; corvina a la roteña (sea bass in a red pepper sauce), bull’s tail…

THE REGION
